‘Bitter Sea’ qualified among the runner-ups at the British Independent Film Awards.
Directed by Fatemeh Ahmadi, the film has entered the semi-finals of the UK event.
Among the 15 short films that has reached the qualifying stage, five films will be announced as nominees to win awards.
‘Bitter Sea’ is about the suffering of an immigrant mother.
It tells the story of a Romanian single mother who escapes from an abusive husband and flees to London to build a better future for her daughter.
She has found a job and place to live, but the landlord has a strict ‘no children allowed’ policy. Trapped in an impossible situation, she has to find a way to hide her daughter being in the flat.
The British Independent Film Awards highlight and reward the best, most innovative and creative independent filmmaking and filmmakers in the UK.
The nominees will be announced on October 31, 2018.
